A limited number of provinces have legislated that employees are to be paid for a certain number of sick days, while most other provinces offer unpaid sick days only. Procom follows the sick leave legislation of the province you are working in. Below are some details regarding provincial programs that are currently in place.

British Columbia
As of January 1, 2022, employees in British Columbia are entitled to up to 5 days of paid leave per year for any personal illness or injury. This is in addition to the 3 days of unpaid sick leave already in place under the Employment Standards Act. These days do not need to be taken consecutively; they can be taken over multiple periods. Partial days cannot be taken; each day counts as a full paid day.
Eligibility:
- BC-based temporary employee (full- and part-time).
- Employed with Procom for at least 90 days.
- Reasonably sufficient proof
- Procom may ask for proof of illness, such as:

Quebec
Temporary employees in Quebec who have been on assignment with Procom uninterrupted for 3 months or more are eligible for a maximum of 2 paid sick days within a calendar year.
Eligibility:
Must be absent for any of the following reasons:
- Sickness or an accident
- Family obligations relating to the care, health or education of their child or their spouse's child
- Family obligations as an informal caregiver for a relative or another person related to their state of health
- Organ or tissue donation
- Following domestic violence, sexual violence, or a criminal offence

Prince Edward Island
Effective October 1, 2024, employees working in Prince Edward Island may be entitled to up to three paid sick days per calendar year, depending on the eligibility below. This is in addition to the unpaid sick leave entitlement of up to three days.
Eligibility:
Temp contractors are eligible for:
- One day of paid sick leave after 12 months of continuous employment
- Two days of paid sick leave after 24 months of continuous employment
- Three days of paid sick leave after 36 months of continuous employment.
Other important notes:
- You do not need to take your eligible sick days consecutively and can use them on a case-by-case basis.
- If you take three consecutive days, Procom may ask for a medical certificate. However, Procom will not request medical certificates for a single day of absence.
