How can I obtain a copy of my tax slip?

This article explains the different ways you can access your tax slips (e.g., T4, T4A, RL-1). Please note that beginning with the 2024 tax year, there are new options for how you can retrieve them.

Option 1: Download your tax slip from the Contractor Portal

This is the fastest and easiest way to get your slip. Tax slips will be made available in the Contractor Portal by the last day of February each year.

How to download your slip

Step One: Log in to the Contractor Portal.

Step Two: Go to the 'Find Payments' tab.

Step Three: Select 'Tax Slips' at the top of the page (next to 'Reports').

Step Four: Click 'Download' next to the tax slip you want.

Important

T4 and T4A slips will be available in the Contractor Portal for those issued in tax year 2024 and later. 

RL-1 slips will be available in the Contractor Portal for those issued in tax year 2025 and later.

Troubleshooting: Not seeing your tax slip?

Here are the most common reasons:

1. Multiple portal accounts

If you have more than one Contractor Portal account, make sure you’re logging in with the email and credentials used during onboarding.

2. Looking for a pre‑2024 slip

Tax slips for 2023 and earlier are not available in the Contractor Portal.
Use Option 2: Download your slip from CRA My Account.

3. Missing the 'Payments' or 'Find Payments' section

This usually means you’re logged in with the wrong email address. Try signing in with the email associated with your engagement.

4. No 'Tax Slips' tab

Only T4 employees and Sole Proprietors receive tax slips from us.
Incorporated contractors do not receive tax slips, as their contract is with their corporation, not them personally.

5. The most recent slip isn’t there yet

Tax slips are uploaded to the Contractor Portal each February, following the end of the tax year.

Option 2: Download your tax slip from CRA My Account

You can also access your tax slips directly through CRA My Account. This secure government platform provides instant access to all your slips, including those from 2023 and earlier.
